Only a very few scraps have been found in our local search of the 1910s. Jazz definitely had a name, at that time, and it was around in various locations throughout the Greater Cincinnati area. Jazz events are listed for Colerain Pike and Price Hill. None other than Hughie May (Hughie May?) led his band at Coney Island. (We have found no other info on him as of now.) The D.H. Baldwin Co.offered "jazz arranged" player piano rolls. And there is a humorous poem about the new jazz craze.
